Supermarkets, Globalisation and Marmite – a Caveman Perspective….

Marmite1Regular readers of this humble blog will know that I advocate the Paleo Diet aka the Caveman Diet.

The fundamental truth being that prior to the arrival of agriculture 10,000 years ago, man, ie homo sapiens, and even his ancestors in one hominoid form or another, ate only fresh meat, fish, wild vegetables and fruit.

He did this for at least 2.5 million years. Starch, wheat, yeast, grain and cereals, milk, butter and cheese simply did not exist.

They did eat eggs, but only by sneaking up on a nest and nicking them.

The BNP Marmite Hijack

In a democracy even the sleaziest low lives have a right to air their views, regardless of their despicable policies. And so it is on St Georges Day the British National Party launched their manifesto.

The odious Nick Griffin and his baying ignorant followers seem to think they are the moral guardians of the "English". Repatriation of non Brits (whoever they are), removal from the European Union, and a ban on immigration are their flagship policies. They wrap themselves around the Union Jack, hijack images like Churchill and the Armed Forces, and even use Marmite to further their cause. I'm delighted that Marmite have sought an injunction against them to stop this outrage. I feared I may have to wear a disguise to buy my jar in case of being labelled a racist facist. How dare they brand my favourite yeast extract to further their cause. It really is the last straw.

To call them the Turd Party would be an insult to my dog's poo. They say that immigrants are preventing the British from getting jobs, yet I suspect that most of their followers are only to happy to use this as an excuse not to get off their fat lazy backsides and seek employment.

They are typical of the benefit dependant culture which thinks they have a right to bleed the state. They know the price of everything and the value of nothing. Most immigrants are hard working and seek to better themselves. They do menial, undignified work which the average chav drunken sozzled Brit wouldn't get out of bed for.

Of course there are abuses of our system, but for every immigrant who may screw it, there are ten fold indiginious underclass Brits who screw it more. Note that – they are the underclass, not the proud working class which built this nation.

We live in a global 21st century village, where humanity and tolerance to our fellow man must take precedence. If the BNP had their way I would see my wife and children treated like criminals and despatched from these treasured isles. The very people who have never once taken a welfare benefit but have contributed to this country and continue to enrich it.

The BNP and their ilk thrive on fear and ignorance. Give them all the boot. Civilisation has come too far to regress.

The Marmite Election

My daughter (at university seeking a BA hons in Education) has been invited to shadow a prospective parliamentary candidate for our London constituency. Apparently she has been vociferous in her criticism of him on his website, remarking on his poor performance (in her opinion) as a ward councillor. Marmite

I wouldn't say he was ineffectual, its just that his priorities are at odds with hers. There has been some banter back and forth with emails, and now that he is his official party's candidate (no names no pack drill – but one of the big three) he is keen to demonstrate his policies and show her the hard work he will be doing on the hustings.

I think she baited him by implying that she intended to enter politics and could do a damn sight better job. This clearly riled him and he suggested that perhaps she should be a councillor first before she attempted to attain the lofty heights of Parliament.

I think he's got a fair chance of toppling the current incumbent, and I admire his bravery. Not because he's seeking election in a cutthroat business, but because he's prepared to be accompanied for two long days with a volatile and highly critical individual. He's taking a big risk.

My daughter is a bit like Marmite – you either love it or hate it. But I'm biased because I'm very fond of Marmite. But even I can only spread it thinly on toast in the mornings. Eating it all day, for all its packed with vitamins and goodness, could be very challenging.

It puts me in a quandary because he doesn't represent the party of my choice, and yet I think he would make a good MP. I've never been one for tactical voting, and I've only got one vote. There's a lot at stake in this UK election – I value my vote and my right to it has been achieved through the sweat and tears of my ancestors.

I abhor people who say they are not going to vote because they can't be bothered or say there is no point – to me it is the epitome of idle ignorance.

Eat Marmite, you may not like the taste, but you'll feel better afterwards. That's what voting is all about!
